STARS, CONSTELLATIONS AND GALAXIES

Our Sun is the closest star to the Earth. Stars are enormous spheres of gas where nuclear reactions take place. These reactions produce light and heat. Stars are classified by three characteristics: color, size and luminosity

 

Nuestro sol es la estrella más cercana a la tierra. Las estrellas son enormes esferas de gas, donde se producen reacciones nucleares. Las estrellas se clasifican según tres características: color, tamaño y luminosidad.

There are so many stars that we divide them into groups to make identification easier. Groups of stars are called constellations.

Hay tantas estrellas que las dividimos en grupos para identificarlas mas fácilmente. A los grupos de estrellas se las llama constelaciones.

A galaxy is an enormous system of stars, dust and gas that is held together by the force of gravity. There are billions of galaxies in the universe. Galaxies are divided into groups by their shape: spiral, elliptical or irregular. Our solar system is part of a galaxy called the Milky way.

Una galaxia es un sistema enorme de estrellas, polvo y gas que se mantiene por la fuerza de la gravedad. Hay billones de galaxias en el universo. Las galaxias se dividen en grupos por su forma: espiral, elíptica o irregular. Nuestro sistema solar es parte de una galaxia llamada Vía Láctea.

THE EARTH MOVEMENTS:  ROTATION AND REVOLUTION

The Earth rotates on its axis. It takes 24 hours for the Earth to complete one rotation. This rotation gives us the day and night. 


La tierra gira sobre su eje. La tierra tarda 24 horas en completar una vuelta sobre si misma. Esta rotación nos da el día y la noche.

The Earth  also takes just over 365 days to orbit the sun. This movement produces the four seasons.


La tierra además tarda aproximadamente 365 días en dar una vuelta alrededor del sol. Este movimiento produce las cuatro estaciones.

THE MOON

The moon is the Earth´s only natural satellite. It takes the moon 28 days to complete one orbit of the Earth, and the same time to complete one rotation.

La luna es el único satélite natural de la tierra. Tarda 28 días en completar una vuelta alrededor de la tierra y el mismo tiempo en completar una vuelta sobre ella misma.

The moon receives light from the sun. We can see the moon because it reflects some sunlight to the Earth. These reflects produces the different phases of the moon.

La luna recibe la luz del sol. Podemos ver la luna porque refleja algunos rayos de sol a la tierra. Este reflejo produce las diferentes fases  de la luna.

 Neil A. Armstrong was a NASA astronaut and the first man to set foot on the moon.

Neil A. Armstrong fue un astronauta de la NASA y el primer hombre en poner un pie en la luna.

The solar system is made up of the sun and the celestial bodies that orbit it. Eight planets orbit the sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Júpiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

El sistema solar está formado por el sol y cuerpos celestiales que giran alrededor de él. Ocho planetas giran alrededor: Mercurio, Venus, Tierra, Marte, Júpiter, Saturno, Urano y Neptuno.
